The B&O ("Business and Occupation") Tax

Summary

The most-onerous tax placed upon business is the B&O tax.  This tax is levied upon gross receipts.  So even if a business does not make a profit, the owner must still pay this tax.  It is recognized that businesses use public infrastructure - but it is difficult enough to start and run a business without having to pay this tax.

Proposal

Abolish the B&O tax forever.  Business owners have to pay sales tax and other taxes just as the rest of us do.  Why punish people for running a business and providing jobs for others?
