Abortion
Summary
Since the United States Supreme Court ruling in Roe v Wade in 1972, it is estimated that over
40,000,000
abortions have been performed. This is a national tragedy of epic
proportion. Can
anyone deny that?
In Washington State, the Department of Social Health Services
estimates that taxpayers spent
$7,554,501 on 13,380 abortions in 2006. From
2000 - 2006, Washington State taxpayers have subsidized nearly 90,000
abortions at the cost of almost $50,000,000 dollars.
We need to ask ourselves only one question: when anything gets
subsidized, do you normally get more or less of it?
Proposal
Introduce or support legislation that would prevent any State funding
for abortions. Having taxpayers pay for abortions sends the
message that we do not have
to be fully responsible for our own actions.
