Philosophy of GovernmentMy philosophy for State government is that it should provide only the
very basic services required for our safety and do those few
things (such as roads, energy, and public education) that are not practical for
any one of us to do alone. Once we go beyond those few basic
necessities, we start down a treacherous, slippery slope - which is
where Washington State is right now - in which elected
officials attempt to provide anything and everything for us.
This is not only impossible and unrealistic, but to even try to do this
requires
massive
bureaucracy and phenomenal cost to the citizens of Washington State.
There are currently 147 elected legislative positions (49 senators
and 98 representatives) in our State. Every one of those 147
people has his or her own idea of where they want our State to go.
And that requires our money. So to ensure that our money is used
in the best ways possible, we need to Constitutionally limit
the amount of money
those 147 people have to spend. This could easily and
realistically be done by mandating that only a certain percentage of our
cumulative annual gross incomes could be spent. This is the only way we
will be able to force government into real prioritization of programs. And
it is a good start in changing the culture in Olympia.
